What we are looking for:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Sophomore standing or higher

  • Ability to commit at least 8 hours per week and at least 2 semesters to the lab

  • Attendance at weekly lab meeting (Fridays at 11:00)

  • Interest in research in the criminal justice system

  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn

Volunteer research assistants usually begin by learning the basics of research: data entry, literature reviews, and transcription of probation meetings. Advanced research assistants may have the opportunity to undertake more complex research tasks, such as interviewing research participants, conducting data analysis, and contributing to conference presentations. Paid positions, when available, are reserved for students who have volunteered in the lab for one semester or more.
